I love this app and the lyrics are 99% of the time top quality! What I find annoying though, is how sometimes the app hangs (loading indefinitely) at random. You search for the song, results come up almost instantly, you select the song to open the lyrics and you see the template loading and loading. No reset of the app or phone works, changing the internet connection type makes no difference. It all points to the host not responding. It happens around 10% of the time.

Great app for finding lyrics & learning the meanings behind them. I do have a small issue with the Suggest Genius Lyrics feature. For example, Taylor Swift has rerecorded some of her albums, & these are labeled as Taylor's Version. When I play a song like Style (Taylor's Version), the app suggests lyrics from the older, original version instead. It seems like the app doesn’t fully recognize songs with parentheses in the title. I hope this gets improved because the rest of the app is excellent.

Thanks for your review! We did it like this because on platforms like YouTube, songs frequently have suffixes like "(Official Music Video)", which causes issues when trying to match with a Genius song page. To prevent this, we try to strip out anything in parenthesis. It's a trade-off, but in most cases it makes the end result more accurate.

I like Genius as a platform, but I think the Android app is very buggy. It regularly freezes while performing normal tasks, like viewing an annotation and returning back to the lyrics, or it just doesn't load in the page content at all, even though my internet connection is fine. I also don't like that the app has way less functionality than the desktop web version, especially for people that transcribe and annotate. Opening a notification from an email link is not possible for instance.
